Last week I had the privilege of working with a client to get her tables and house ready for her Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted to design and create an elegant yet rustic environment for the men, women, and kids to enjoy. My clients home is exquisite and it was a priority to keep in step with the integrity of her home. Her house tells a story with her beautiful antiques. In thinking about her design I wanted her table to also look like it told a story. I used vintage tartan blankets that were from the 1900’s as her linens on the main table. The pillows for the barstools that gathered around the cocktail tables were from Turkey and London and were also antiques from 1930. I have a vendor who I met while doing some things for my own house who lives in Turkey and will ship straight from her store. Her pillows and rugs are just gorgeous! The brass candlesticks were also antiques and I added a vase on top for flowers to go in. I wanted high arrangements so that guests could carry on conversation easily. Mary, from We Took To the Woods, again did these amazing flower arrangements for me. She is so very talented! I used the wood chargers and layered them with an additional glass charger, and glass plate. I was pleased with being able to see the wood texture through the glass plates. Some details that added to the table were the rosemary wrapped in satin ribbon placed on top of the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. For the name tag holders I used beautiful red barlett pears and pinned the name tags with a gold pin. One of the women who joins this Thanksgiving dinner every year typed all of the name tags and uses a Jane Austin font that I absolutely loved! Overall I was pleased with the final design. Lauren Miller did an amazing job taking these pictures, hope you enjoy them!
